The answer is NO. I have been a gear-head since I was a little boy. I used to raid my Dad’s Hot Rod magazine collection from the 60’s. I started going to see the drag races at Bayland’s Raceway in the early 80’s. Watching and listening to the drag racing and circle track cars. Going to see Bigfoot at the Monster Truck events. And attending multiple Grand Prix and MotoGP events in my lifetime (I’m almost 50.
Being a fan of motorsports and cars in general, one of the most important factors in growing up as a gear head was the SOUND of the engine. There is nothing like an internal combustion engine. The lope of a cammed out V8. The scream of a Formula One V-10. The symphony of a V-12 Jaguar E-Type. Electric cars can’t do that.
Yes electric cars are fast. Instant torque from a stop. The Tesla Plaid being the fastest production car in the world that runs the 1/4 mile at 9.2 sec. The technology is amazing. But a car being silent going fast does absolutely NOTHING for me.
Does anyone want to go see electric Monster Trucks without the growl of the supercharged V8? Or go see NHRA Top Fuel in silence? MotoGP bikes going around the track and being able to hold a conversation? Or Formula 1 cars going 100% electric and people nodding off asleep. I DON”T. EVER!!!
I bought a 2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody (because I can’t afford a Hellcat Redeye) for the sold purpose of being obnoxious. The sound it makes. The handling in a huge boat with 305 tires on all corners. My 7 year old son absolutely loves it when we go through tunnels. I absolutely LOVE this car because it makes NOISE.
People need to stop being sheep and doing what your politicians say you need to do. Do the opposite. Go buy the last remaining muscle cars before they are gone. And do long smoky burnouts for days and listen to that V8 ROAR.
